National Women's Head Coach: Cricket Ireland

Closing Date: 29th October 2013

Cricket Ireland is the governing body for the game at both performance and participation levels throughout Ireland, representing the interests of both the men’s and women’s game. The future of Irish Cricket is incredibly bright following the performance of the Men’s senior team in the past five ICC World Cup events and significant wins against Full Member countries over the past 7 years.

This success has resulted in the rapid growth of the organisation and significant increase in turnover, particularly commercially, through the maintenance of partnerships with blue-chip multi-nationals, such as RSA Insurance. At the same time, our growth in playing strength has attracted the best teams in the world to play in Ireland, with teams such as England, Australia, West Indies, India, South Africa, Bangladesh and Pakistan visiting these shores since 2007.

Ireland’s National Women’s team have enjoyed a successful few years and in 2013 qualified for the 2014 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in Bangladesh (the only Associate country). In 2014 the Ireland Women’s team hope to play in an ODI/T20I series; will compete in the ICC World T20 in Bangladesh; compete in the ICC European Regional World Cup & World T20 Qualifier (to global qualifier in 2015); and compete in the ECB County Championship Division 2.

Cricket Ireland is seeking a National Women’s Head Coach in a part-time role, averaging 30 hours per week, initially on a one-year fixed term contract. The role will lead and coach the senior women’s and emerging player’s programme; ensure Ireland keeps producing and developing players who are ready to take to the world stage; and ensure Ireland is competitive at the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 and throughout 2014 and beyond.

Headquartered in our Dublin HQ, but with a national brief, the successful candidate will report into the Performance Director and have overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the national women’s performance and emerging player’s programme.

The position offers a genuine opportunity for the successful candidate to help improve, deliver and evolve the player development programmes required to be world class, and ensure Cricket Ireland reaches its goal of 7th in the ICC global women’s rankings by the end of 2015 (currently ranked 10th).

If this opportunity interests you, please email a CV and a covering letter detailing why you believe you have the skills and experience to undertake this role. Please email to suzanne.kenealy@cricketireland.ie

Closing date for the applications is Tuesday 29th October 2013, 9am.

Should you be successful in making the short-list following the application process, please note that interviews will take place w/c 4th November.
