Indoor Cricket Tournament Director: British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS)

The BUCS Indoor Cricket programme is one of the fastest growing in the BUCS sporting programme. The partnership with the ECB has enabled the competition to expand dramatically with over 120 teams playing across the UK. To ensure the smooth running of the 51 regional competitions BUCS requires a tournament director at each of the events.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Arrive at least 45 minutes before the first match and ensure all appropriate equipment is at the venue
• Understand the BUCS Indoor Cricket Rules and Regulations and implement them at each event
• Act as the BUCS representative for teams and umpires at the event
• Solve any problems at the venue
• Liaise with umpires on the day to ensure they have everything they need (please note umpires will be booked centrally)
• Ensure all matches start on time and award walkovers against any team not on court at the scheduled start time
• Ensure all teams complete a squad declaration and send to the BUCS office no more than two days after the matches
• Collect all results and send the supplied results form to the BUCS office no more than two days after the matches
• Keep all spare balls and use at future events
• Distribute the BUCS/ECB playing questionnaire and encourage players to complete the questionnaire
• Excellent communication skills
• Good organisational skills
• Good timekeeping
• Remuneration: £40 to cover all expenses
• Reports To Sports Advisory Group Chair
• Commitment: Attendance at a min. of two regional events between October 2013 and March 2014
